Celeste Schneider, a Leander ISD graduate, received her BA in Communications and Musical Theatre at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. She is a classically trained vocalist and has served as a vocal and acting coach for 10+ years. Former Miss Teen Austin, she is also a published singer/songwriter and has studied Beijing Opera in China where her love for Eastern culture and theatre was born. Some of her favorite student roles to play were Nellie in South Pacific and Adelaide in Guys and Dolls. 

Ms. Schneider began her theatre teaching career in 2008 in East Texas and eventually moved home to central Texas, teaching at Four Points Middle School and a short time in Pflugerville ISD. She is excited to be at Vandegrift this year and feels blessed to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful students, parents and staff. 

Ms.Schneider is the mother of 3 amazing children, Makenna, Presley and Cooper. She enjoys live music, live shows, writing music and anything on the water. 

She will be sure to give you a smile and make you feel welcome! 


Mr. Alonzo teaches Theater Tech 1 and Theater Arts 3-4 and is excited to be working with each and every one of the VHS Theatre students. Originally from the dusty realms of West Texas, Mr. Alonzo was born in Odessa, Texas and lived in Pecos - "Home of the First Rodeo". He attended Mclennan Community College (GO HIGHLANDERS!!) where he received his first two years of Technical and Theatrical Training. Mr. Alonzo graduated from Angelo State University and later settled in the Austin area where he met his wonderful wife.  A teacher for 9 years, he is grateful to be working with the talented Viper faculty and students.

Mr. Conner is our Technical Theatre Director at Vandegrift and you've likely seen his impact through the many beautiful set designs created by the award-winning VHS Technical Theatre Crew.  Mr. Conner studied lighting design at Texas Tech University and previously worked as the Technical Stage Manager at the University of New Mexico.  He has also worked with the prestiges International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (local Austin chapter).
